This policy explains what stays on your device, what is processed when you use Natural Voice, and how you can manage your data.
Your library, progress, clips, and prepared audio are stored locally. Standard playback uses Apple’s system voices. You can choose whether to sync your library with iCloud.
Text is sent to our cloud speech service to generate audio. Installation and usage records help manage your allowance and protect the service. BookSpeak does not require a separate account.
BookSpeak is operated by PossiGo LLC in California, United States. This policy applies to the BookSpeak iOS and iPadOS app, its Natural Voice service, these BookSpeak web pages, and support conversations about BookSpeak. Contact us at contact@possigo.app.
BookSpeak stores imported EPUB files, book metadata and covers, reading and listening positions, saved passages, playback preferences, and prepared audio on your device. These are not uploaded to a PossiGo-hosted library just because you import a book. Standard playback uses the voices available through Apple’s operating system.
When you prepare Natural Voice audio, the app sends portions of extracted book text, the voice selection, and speech-generation settings to our cloud service over HTTPS. A request can include more text than the passage currently visible because BookSpeak prepares chapter audio in parts. The generated audio is returned to your device and cached there.
The service processes text to produce speech. Our speech application does not create a persistent server-side library of your ebooks or save speech request text and generated audio as library files. We do not use your book text to train speech or other AI models.
The app creates a random installation identifier and stores it in the device Keychain, with a local fallback. It is not an advertising identifier and is not your name or email address. The service associates this identifier with the amount of Natural Voice audio generated so it can maintain your allowance. Keychain information can survive app reinstallation; deleting the app does not necessarily create a new allowance or delete the server record.
To verify requests and prevent abuse, BookSpeak may use Apple App Attest. We process verification challenges and assertions, an attestation key identifier, a verification public key, and counters associated with the installation. The service also processes short-lived access tokens. These records support access control and service security.
Sync with iCloud is off until you enable it in BookSpeak Settings. When enabled, BookSpeak stores your EPUB files, covers, library metadata, progress, saved passages, and related reading preferences in your app’s iCloud storage so your Apple devices can stay in sync. Prepared Natural Voice audio is not part of this sync. Your iCloud account and storage are provided by Apple; BookSpeak does not ask for or receive your Apple Account password.
If you email us, we receive your email address, message, and attachments you choose to send. The app’s Send Feedback action may prefill the app version, build number, operating-system version, and device model in an email draft that you can edit before sending.
Our hosting and email providers may process technical information such as IP addresses, request times, response status, and service or security logs to deliver and protect the app service, website, and email. These BookSpeak web pages do not add analytics scripts, advertising pixels, or cookies of their own.
BookSpeak does not sell or rent your personal information, use it for targeted advertising, or track you across other companies’ apps and websites. The app does not include third-party advertising or behavioral analytics SDKs.
Books and local audio. Local library data remains until you remove it, clear prepared audio, or delete the app, subject to device backup settings. Remove from Library deletes that book’s local files, prepared audio, listening progress, and saved clips. Settings → Storage & Data → Remove Natural Voice Audio clears prepared audio while keeping your library and clips.
iCloud. With sync enabled, library deletions are included in subsequent successful syncs. Turning sync off does not delete data already in iCloud, and removing the app does not necessarily remove iCloud copies or device backups. Manage those copies through Apple’s iCloud and backup controls. Contact us if you need help.
Speech processing. For immediate playback, speech text and generated audio are processed while a request is served. When you request an offline book, the selected chapter text, prepared audio, and generation checkpoints are temporarily stored on our cloud service so preparation can continue after you leave the app. Offline download links expire after three days; a daily cleanup removes expired job content. Cancelling a download stops further preparation as soon as the cancellation reaches the service. Audio already downloaded remains on your device until you remove it. Hosting providers may retain operational records under their retention policies; we do not promise that every infrastructure record is immediately erased. We do not intentionally include book text or generated audio in application logs.
Allowance and security records. Installation identifiers, cumulative generation usage, and verification keys may remain on the server after you close or uninstall the app. We retain these records while needed to administer the allowance and protect the service, subject to provider storage policies and valid deletion requests. The current application does not configure an automatic deletion schedule for these records. Verification challenges expire after a short period and session tokens are short-lived.
Support. We retain support correspondence while needed to resolve your request, maintain relevant support history, and meet legal obligations. Technical logs and backups follow the applicable provider’s retention policies. Contact us to request deletion of information we control. We may retain limited records where required by law or needed for security or dispute resolution.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, obtain a copy of, or delete personal information, object to certain processing, or withdraw consent. To make a request, email contact@possigo.app with the subject “BookSpeak Privacy.” We will respond as required by applicable law and may ask for limited information to verify the request or identify the relevant records.
Because BookSpeak has no separate user account, your email address is not automatically linked to an installation’s allowance or security records. We may need additional verification to find them. Do not send passwords, access tokens, or private books. You may also contact the relevant privacy authority where you live.
BookSpeak uses HTTPS for cloud requests, Apple Keychain for its installation identifier, and access tokens and app verification to help protect cloud access. Local data and optional iCloud copies also rely on Apple’s device and account protections. No transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
BookSpeak is a general reading tool and is not specifically directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through support or other services. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can review and address it.
We may update this policy when BookSpeak’s features or data practices change. We will update the date above and provide additional notice when required.
